Crude Descent
A downloadable game for Windows
A platforming parkour game with a grappling hook.
Made as an expansion of my B1 project for an assignment at college.
Version (not quite) 1.0.0 Updates:
New Stuff:
- The player can now slide by pressing control.
- Jumping during a slide will launch the player further forwards and slightly higher than usual.
- The player can now slam by pressing control in midair.
- The control layout in the pause menu has been updated to reflect this.
- A local leaderboard has been added. The player's three best scores for each level will be saved.
- Added Pistons, moving platforms that can be grappled to and run on.
- Added two new levels which showcase these new mechanics.
- The UI and Overall Appearance of the game has been overhauled.
- There is now a level select screen.
- There are now several new buttons in the pause menu, allowing the player to respawn.
- The game now officially has a name! Thanks for playing Crude Descent!
Bugfixing:
- The Grappling hook now no longer attaches to ungrapplable objects.
- The timer now stops counting up while the game is paused.
Known Issues:
We plan to fix these issues in a future version of the game. Please get in touch if you find anything else!
- The slide's rate of acceleration is dependant on the player's framerate.
- Using this, the player can slide jump far enough to despawn the character, with no way to restart. Oops.
- The moving part of the pistons cannot be grappled to.
- Running walls are really awkward, especially when you come off one immediately into another.
- Slopes are also really awkward. Sorry.
- The timer begins counting up as soon as the level is loaded.
- It's really badly optimised. We're working on it, please bear with us.
